Terms of use for Swisscom Secure Webmail

The secure Webmail interface is used exclusively for the secure transmission of messages with sensitive content between Swisscom (Switzerland) Ltd (hereinafter "Swisscom") and external recipients. The use of secure Webmail is voluntary and free of charge.

User data

In addition to the e-mail address, the following information is collected during the registration process:

Retention period / deletion / termination

Received messages and their attachments can be exported manually and saved locally (Quickguide).

Messages stored in secure Webmail, including their attachments, are automatically and permanently deleted from the system after 90 days. Users can also delete messages manually at any time before this point. Users are responsible for saving required messages or attachments before they are deleted.

secure Webmail accounts are automatically deleted after 370 days without activity (login or receiving a message). Users can manually remove their account from the system at any time (Quickguide). The use of secure Webmail is no longer possible. It should be noted in particular that once the account has been removed, messages received in encrypted form can no longer be retrieved.

Swisscom is entitled to terminate the use of SecureMail at any time, in writing, without providing reasons. The notice period is five working days, so Swisscom and the user have sufficient time to retrieve any messages via the portal and save them. Notice of termination shall be given to the user at the e-mail address provided during registration.

Liability

Swisscom accepts no liability for damage and/or loss of data caused by the deletion of access to Swisscom Secure Webmail and/or in connection with the deletion of mails and/or files or for disruptions or problems in communication via secure Webmail which lie outside its sphere of responsibility.

In all other respects, Swisscom's liability shall be limited to intent and gross negligence, unless it relates to injury to life, limb or health.

Despite encryption, secure Webmail does not guarantee complete security, as there is always the theoretical possibility of third parties taking note of and manipulating content on the Internet.

Data protection

Swisscom's privacy policies apply.

Law and place of jurisdiction

Swiss law shall apply. The place of jurisdiction is Bern.
